How the Program Works

What You Will Do

  • As a health coach intern, you'll work as part of a collaborative care team to provide nutrition counseling, education, and guidance to patients.
  • You'll help patients adapt to personalized dietary intervention programs based on their symptoms, health history, and doctor's prescriptions.
  • You'll provide regular updates to doctors about patients' progress and receive feedback from your supervisor to help you grow and develop your skills.

What to Expect

  • The internship program is divided into two tracks:

    • 6-month track for existing Primal Health Coach and Master Coach grads with ability to choose 2 rotations

    • 12-month track for new Primal Health Coach and Master Coach students with the ability to choose 4 rotations

  • The rotations are:

    • Operations: Helping with "Onboarding Coaching Calls" for patients needing Medical Nutrition Therapy and those with Gestational Diabetes. We aim to support patients who might not show up or feel nervous about beginning treatment. This helps coaches prepare for the "Discovery Call."

    • Partnership and Marketing: An opportunity to learn  how to build and maintain business relationships, and help with both partnership development and social media marketing.

    • Corporate Wellness and Out-of-Pocket Programs: Assist Simplex Corporate Wellness grow by giving live talks and supporting new participants in out-of-pocket programs that are new to Simplex Health.

    • Clinical: Shadow dietitians to understand their appointments and how they differ from coaching. Assist with support requests that Registered Dietitians submit for patients needing extra help, including creating meal plans and providing one-on-one coaching through chat or live sessions.

  • You'll be expected to work 8-10 hours per week from home, which is flexible and can be done at a time that suits you.
  • Only 4 candidates will be selected each quarter to participate in the internship program.
  • The application process is divided into 5 steps:

    1. Complete this Google Form.*

    2. Primal Health Coach Institute will vet your responses.

    3. If you are selected, Primal Health Coach Institute will send you a link to formally apply to the Simplex Internship Program.

    4. Simplex will review your application and notify you of their decision.

    5. If selected, you'll begin the internship.

    *The internship opportunity is available exclusively to residents of the United States. Due to regulations regarding unpaid work and considerations related to time zone differences, Simplex Health is unable to accept unpaid interns from the states of California (CA), Washington (WA), Oregon (OR), Nevada (NV), Montana (MT), Illinois (IL), New York (NY), or Idaho (ID).

To apply for the internship program you must be a current student or graduate—or prepared to enroll in—each of the following Primal Health Coach Institute courses:
  • Primal Health Coach Certification
  • Human Intestinal Microbiome Specialist Certification
  • Health Coaching in Medical Practices Specialist Certification
  • Master Coach Certification (optional)
