With Health Coaching, just as with any craft, there’s a certain requirement for trial, error, and practice. That’s a big part of what we talk about with veteran health coach, Michael Rutherford. Michael works alongside his father—also a health coach—to positively impact the long-term health of an unhealthy and underserved corner of the population: truck drivers! Truck drivers’ life spans are statistically 25 years shorter than the population’s average, and the big opportunity that Michael has found in this community is education and support around metabolic health. Did you know: Drivers can have their licenses suspended if their blood pressure or fasting blood glucose are too high? The community, Destination Health, has over 16,000 members on Facebook, and includes group programming, individualized programming, a yearly conference, and even a radio show on Sirius XM.
